History of the Squadron 1966-1967.
In 1966 the Squadron had no permanent Commanding Officer
and Flg.Off. A.Clare was asked to take over as Acting CO. until a
permanent CO. could be installed.

The Annual Camp was held at RAF.
Thorney Island near Portsmouth, where a party of three Officers, two
Warrant Officers and 25 cadets took part in numerous outdoor activities, in
glorious weather, including a 10 mile map reading exercise over the Sussex Downs,
a visit to HMS Victory and a sail round Portsmouth Harbour. An energetic hour
was also spent on the assault course at the Royal Military Police barracks,
Chichester. The station was the home of 242 OCU Transport Command, flying
Argosy and the new Lockheed Hercules transport aircraft All the cadets were
shown over the aircraft and given a 35 minutes' flight along the coast as far
as Brighton and back in an Argosy.. The cadets took part in various ground activities
such as the air traffic control tower and fire station. Highlight of the camp
was the visit to 22 Squadron, flying Whirlwind helicopters on search
and rescue operations where 8 cadets were winched up into a hovering helicopter
and flown around for a few minutes watched by the rest of the cadets.
Everyone took part in shooting on the 25 yards range, where cadets Murray
and Jastrzebski qualified for RAF marksman badges and a further eight
cadets qualified for ATC marksman badges.
During the swimming session at the Royal Marines baths, Eastney, 17
cadets qualified for ATC swimming proficiency awards.
At the end of 1967 Flt.Lt. Mills left the Squadron
and Flt. Lt. Philip Riley took over in 1968.
