During 1959:

Plt.Off.M.Staley was promoted to Flg.Off.
Warrant Officer H.Taylor left the Squadron.
Civilian Instructor M.Payne left the Squadron to join the R.A.F. He was later commissioned as a navigator and he joined a Vulcan squadron.
Cadet strength remained reasonably high from 1959 to 1962.
Flt.Sgt J.Dickens was awarded a Flying Scholarship, the only one ever awarded to 1471 Squadron up to this date.
The annual Camp was held at R.A.F Thorney Island

During 1960:

Plt.Off. A.Clare was promoted to Flg.Off.
Plt.Off. W.Raewas promoted toFlg.Off.
Flg.Off. M.Staley attended the RAF Expedition Training Course in Wales, one week mountaineering and one week kayaking.
Cadet strength remained reasonably high.
The Annual Camp was held at RAF Middleton-St-George

During 1961:

Flg.Off. M.Staley took a number of Cadets on a climbing/youth hostelling holiday for 2 weeks.This included a hike over Striding Edge on Hellvellyn and assisting in a mountain rescue episode.
Warrant Officer.D.Pye (ex Bolton (80) Squadron) was promoted Plt.Off.
The cadet strength remained reasonably high.
The Annual Camp was held at R.A.F Shawbury.....RAF Shawbury

During 1962:
Flg.Off. K.Yates resigned. his Commision and joined the Civilian Committee as Secretary.
During his service with the Squadron, which commenced in 1942 as a cadet, he had served as Civilian Instructor, Equipment Officer,Training Officer and Adjutant to three C.O.'s, Flt.Lts. S.Brotherton, W.Lucas and E.Howarth.
He continued to serve the ATC. as a member of the Civilian Committee until 1965 and on retirement was presented with a Squadron shield which he still holds to this date.
Flg.Off.M.Staley and Warrant Officer J.Douglas resigned their Commisions.
Flg.Off.M.Staley to take up work in Canada, where he still lives.
Warrant Officer J. Dougalas to take up a new appointment with Bolton Sea Cadets,where he was later commissioned as a Petty Officer.
Cadet Warrant Officer R.N.Scott was promoted to Warrant Officer.
Corporal R.Pickstock was promoted to Sergeant in Jan 1962.and Flight Sergeant in June 1962.
Cadet strength remained reasonably high.
The Annual Camp was held at R.A.F.Chivenor

During 1963:
A Detached Flight was formed in Chorley. Plt.Off. W.Rae was seconded to the Chorley Detached Flight and left later in the year.
Plt.Off D.Pye was promoted to Flg.Off.
Flt. Sgt. Roy Pickstock was promoted to Cadet Warrant Officer in Feb.1963
Sergeant J.A.Riley was promoted to Flt.Sgt.
Cadet strength remained reasonably high.
The Annual Camp was held at R.A.F. Coningsby

During 1964:
Flg.Off K.Wilkinson left the Squadron.
Cadet strength remained reasonably static.
The Annual Camp was held at R.A.F. Cosford

During 1965:
Flt.Lt. E Howarth retired as Commanding Officer after 12 years with the Squadron.
Flt.Lt. Peter Riley rejoined the Squadron and took over temporarily as Commanding Officer.
Warrant Officer R.N.Scott left the Squadron.
Cadet Warrant Officer R.Pickstock was promoted to Warrant Officer.
Cadet strength remained reasonably static.
The Annual Camp was held at R.A.F Manston
